Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt might be done in Toronto very soon due to his rough 2024 season and if he is given another chance he will be on a very short leash.
Bassitt had a phenomenal first season with the Blue Jays in 2023 posting a 3.60 ERA to go along with a 16-8 record as he was part of one of the best rotations in the American League but unfortunately that was not the case in 2024.
After going 16-8 with a 3.60 ERA in 2023, in his first season in a Blue Jays uniform, we were all expecting a much different version of the 35-year-old than we saw toe the rubber this year.-Fisher
Blue Jays Chris Bassitt might be done in Toronto if he fails to turns things around in 2025
During the 2024 season, most fans believed that the Blue Jays starting pitcher rotation was their strongest point after the season they had in 2023 but that did not end up being the case at all this season.
After boasting one of the top rotations in Major League Baseball in 2023, the starters were supposed to be the least of the team's concerns. -Fisher
Bassitt seemed to be part of the issue as he started the season with a 5.64 ERA in the first bit of the season but was eventually able to settle down a bit, ending the year with a 4.16 ERA and 10-14 record in 2024.
He stumbled out of the gate with a 5.64 ERA through the first month, contributing to the rotation's 3.95 ERA, which, by the way, was the worst mark in the AL East. -Fisher
As the Blue Jays look to drastically improve in 2025 and add some serious arms to their current pitchers, Bassitt will likely start the season with the team but if he begins as he did last year, he will likely not be in Toronto for very long.
