Blue Jays announce injury update on pitcher Chris Bassitt
Bassitt was on the mound for the Blue Jays yesterday and put up another incredible performance as he finished the game giving up only 1 earned run while striking out 5 batters in 5.2 innings pitched.
After the game it was reported that the Blue Jays took Bassitt out because he was dealing with some neck spasms which is why they did not want him pushing past 100 pitches.
Chris Bassitt was dealing with some neck spasms, which is why he didn't push past 100 pitches. He adapted, though, to that and the cold weather.
Bassitt says he is «very proud of the team» and knows the bats will be «more explosive» soon. #BlueJays
Despite the Blue Jays solid performance, they were unable to pull of the sweep against the Red Sox mostly due to awful job home plate umpire Manny Gonzalez did as he missed a ton of calls.
After the game Bassitt and John Schneider praised the team for sticking with it and battling throughout the entire game even though they ended up with a loss in extra innings.
John Schneider praised his players multiple times tonight for «playing their asses off» in Boston.
Chris Bassitt echoed that, praising the «gritty wins»
Bassitt: «As long as we're keeping our team in the ballpark, so to speak we're going to win a lot of games.» #BlueJays
The Blue Jays kick off their second series of the season against the Baltimore Orioles tonight at 7:05 PM.
