The Toronto Blue Jays are riding a rollercoaster early this season, living life on the extremes with record-setting highs and lows this early into their new season.

Through their first 14 games, the Blue Jays have already made franchise history in two ways - one positive, and one they'd probably rather forget.

A Sportsnet staff writer reported that their starting rotation has posted a stellar 2.48 ERA, the best in franchise history through the first 14 games.
"On the flip side, their offense has struggled to find power, hitting just six home runs, the fewest the team has ever recorded over the same span." -Sportnet staff

Toronto's starting rotation has outperformed the previous franchise-best ERA of 2.51 set in 1984. Since José Berrios gave up six earned runs over five innings on Opening Day, the rotation has been lights-out, posting a remarkable 1.92 ERA over the following 13 games, the best mark in the majors during that stretch.
Despite the strong start on the mound, the Blue Jays' lineup has lacked power, a lingering issue from 2024, when they ranked 26th in home runs and 22nd in isolated slugging.
The Blue Jays' struggles with power at the plate continue to be a concern, a carryover from 2024, when they ranked 26th in home runs and 22nd in isolated slugging. Despite some roster changes, the lineup has yet to shake off last season's lack of pop.
"The previous record-low of seven home runs was set in each of the 1978, 1981 and 1982 seasons. The difference, Toronto posted losing records through 14 games each of those years, whereas this season, their run prevention has propelled them to an 8-6 start." -Sportnet staff

The Blue Jays' lack of power during their four-game series at Fenway Park, which wrapped up on Thursday, can be partly chalked up to miserable weather conditions. They managed just three extra-base hits in the series, a home run and two doubles.
Toronto is currently the only team in Major League Baseball that hasn't gotten a home run from any of the top three spots in its batting order so far in the 2025 season.
