Blue Jays have decided to DFA three pitchers prior to Opening Day
The Blue Jays take on the Baltimore Orioles for Opening Day in Toronto this afternoon as veteran pitcher Jose Berrios will take the mound to kick off the season for the Blue Jays.
The team announced this morning that pitchers Tommy Nance, Zach Pop and Nick Robertson have all be DFA'd to make room on the 40 man roster prior to this afternoon's game.
The #BlueJays announced this batch of moves to set their Opening Day roster:
Zach Pop, Tommy Nance and Nick Robertson all DFA to clear 40-man space for Blue Jays
Blue Jays DFA Zach Pop, Tommy Nance, Nick Robertson
There is not much surprise to these three being DFA'd especially Pop who many were surprised was still there as he had a horrendous season last year and played a big part in the Blue Jays bullpen being so bad last year.
The Blue Jays have made some questionable moves this spring but DFA'ing these three pitchers seems like the right move for their bullpen to start the 2025 season.
It will be interesting to see how the Blue Jays bullpen looks to start the season compared to how they did last year but it seems like a guarantee that they will be better.
