Ross Atkins comments on the Blue Jays trying to sign Vladimir Guerrero Jr before the first game of the season
The Blue Jays kick off their season this afternoon in Toronto as they take on the Baltimore Orioles at the Rogers Centre for game number 1 of 2025.
Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins was asked about the negotiations with Guerrero which he said he would not go into details about but he did state that he feels good about everything.
Ross Atkins won't speak about any potential Vladimir Guerrero Jr. negotiations, but did say that the #BlueJays will remain open and added:
«I was just talking to Tony on the way in and I said: yo tengo esperanza. I have hope. That's how I feel.»
MLB insider Shi Davidi was on the MLB network last night and confirmed that the Blue Jays are doing everything in their power to try and close an extension before the first pitch this afternoon.
Reports state that the Blue Jays are "doing everything they can" to reach an extension with Vlad Guerrero Jr. before Opening Day.

Fans are praying that the Blue Jays find a way to close a deal with Guerrero before the start of the season as there would be no better gift for Opening Day that signing Guerrero and a win against the Orioles.
