The Toronto Blue Jays have made it clear that they want to add a starting pitcher this off-season but are quickly running out of options as it looks like Nick Pivetta is their final options at a decent pitcher.

The Blue Jays have missed out on both Teoscar Hernandez and Corbin Burnes in the last 24 hours and with the majority of the top tier players off the board, things are not looking good for the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays have one final chance at signing Nick Pivetta

The Blue Jays are in desperate need of a starting pitcher for the 2025 season and it looks like former Boston Red Sox pitcher Nick Pivetta is their final chance at getting a decent starter.
According to MLB reporter Ryan Finklestein, the Blue Jays are still interested in Pivetta and there is a possibility of signing him to a two year contract worth $40 million which would be a fair deal.
While making predictions for the top remaining free agents, Just Baseball's Ryan Finkelstein predicted that Nick Pivetta would leave the Boston Red Sox to join the Blue Jays. He predicted that Pivetta would sign a two-year, $40 million deal with an opt-out -Mohammed

While Pivetta is far from being as good as Burnes, he would still give the Blue Jays a consistent pitcher who has had an ERA just above 4.00 over the past few seasons in Boston.
"The downside to Pivetta is the fact that he has not finished any of the last four seasons with an ERA under 4.00, and teams will have to forfeit draft capital to sign him," wrote Finkelstein. "If there is one team that might be desperate enough to not care about the draft capital at this stage of the offseason, it's the Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays have struck out on most major free agents, with a lot of their pursued targets having been attached to the QO." -Finklestein

Even if the Blue Jays land Pivetta, the fan base is discouraged that this is where the team in now at, competing for a pitcher who had an ERA above 4.00 last season.
It is hard to blame anyone else but Ross Atkins for this mess of an off-season as he has once again let the Blue Jays organization get walked on in free agency.
