The Toronto Blue Jays have some big moves to make this off-season and it looks like they need to move on from a few veterans including Alek Manoah, Chris Bassitt and George Springer.
The Blue Jays 2024 season was such a disappointment that there is no way that the team can move forward without some major changes if they plan of having a better season next year which seems like a must.
Blue Jays looking to likely move of from Chris Bassitt, George Springer and Alek Manoah
The number one concern in terms of veterans the Blue Jays need to move on from is George Springer who is by far the most overpaid player since he has the highest salary and is far from being their best player. The issue with Springer is that moving him will be very difficult due to his contract which means if they find a team willing to take him, they will likely need to retain a decent portion of it.

The most overpaid player on the Blue Jays roster is their center fielder George Springer. If the Blue Jays want to win games in the loaded American League East, they're going to need to spend their money as optimally as possible. Spending $25 million a year on a veteran outfielder who struggles the way Springer has does not fit that definition. -Pressnell
One of the tougher choices will be surrounding pitcher Alek
Manoah since he is still young and has proven he can be an extremely good pitcher in the majors but due to injuries and his game since 2022, it is hard to think the Blue Jays will give him another shot. Manoah was incredible in his first season in Toronto but has been quite terrible since then and combining that with the injuries makes it hard to understand why they would keep him.
One of the more confusing players on the Blue Jays roster is the pitcher Alek Manoah. Sometimes Manoah looks like a Cy Young candidate. Other times he looks like he would get crushed by a decent college baseball team. It really doesn't make much sense as to how it happens. But one thing is for certain: the Blue Jays can't trust him in their rotation until he can figure out how to find some consistency. -Pressnell
Finally there is Chris Bassitt who should be the easiest of the three players to move since he is not on a big contract and as he enters the final year of his deal, teams will likely come calling. The Blue Jays need more from their starting rotation and while
Bassitt is well liked in Toronto his 4.16 ERA is simply not good enough if they want to win more games.
It will be interesting to see what Ross Atkins ends up doing but it is certain something needs to be done in terms of these veterans.
