Former Milwaukee Brewers shortstop hit free agency this week and reports have revealed that the New York Mets have made him a massive offer.
Adames is coming off a solid season in Milwaukee as he hit a career best 32 homeruns to go along with 112 RBIs and a .251 batting average which is why he is one of the top free agents on the market.
New York Mets have made Willy Adames a monster offer
According to reports, the Mets have made Adames a $160 million offer with a term of 7 years which could end up being the first big signing of free agency and end up being one of the largest.
According to my sources, the #Mets have made an offer of over $160 million for a period of 7 years to Willy Adames. Their intention is for him to play third base; however, Adames is not convinced, as he prefers to continue in the shortstop position. He has not made a decision yet, and so far, he also has a proposal from the Dodgers. #Mets #Dodgers #WillyAdames
The interesting part in all of this is that the Mets already have an incredible shortstop in Francisco Lindor and apparently plan on keeping him there despite going after Adames.
The Mets want to have Adames play third base which he is apparently not keen on but has not made up his mind just yet as he is still thinking the offer over which is no surprise given how much they are offering him.
