The Toronto Blue Jays are looking into a blockbuster trade with the Milwaukee Brewers

The Toronto Blue Jays need to find a reliable to closer and it looks like they might be tempted by a blockbuster trade with the Milwaukee Brewers for closer Devin Williams.
The Blue Jays decided to non-tender Jordan Romano two weeks ago and are now in desperate need to replace him as they do not have a main closer headed into the 2025 season.

The Brewers have made it clear that they that they are looking to move Williams this off-season as he enters the last year of his current contract and does not plan on returning to Milwaukee.
MLB insider Eric Treuden believes the Blue Jays would be a great landing spot for Williams as they are in need of a main closer for next season with Romano gone and being forced to rely on Chad Green if they do not sign anyone.

The issue with this trade is that Williams has some serious trade value after last season and the Brewers will likely expect some solid prospects in return which the Blue Jays do not have much of.
"After non-tendering both Jordan Romano and Dillon Tate, Toronto is going to rely on Chad Green and Erik Swanson, two non-closers, to man the eighth and/or ninth innings in 2025," wrote Treuden.
"Williams would give the Blue Jays a significant upgrade in the back-end of the pen, but the biggest problem here is that Toronto's farm system is barren and the Brewers may have a tough time finding pieces the Blue Jays' front office is willing to part with. There's simply not much there."

Clearly Toronto needs to explore all their options in terms of improving their bullpen as whether it's through trades or signings, the team needs to drastically improve their bullpen before the start of the season.
