While the off-season in still in full motion as many big names are still on the board, some insiders are looking at the 2025 season and believe that Toronto Blue Jays rookie Will Wagner has a chance at winning AL Rookie of the Year.

The Blue Jays acquired Wagner in trade last season from the Houston Astros as part of the trade that saw pitcher Yusei Kikuchi head to Houston in exchange for Wagner, Joey Loperfido and Jake Bloss.

Wagner is still eligible for the AL Rookie of he Year in 2025 since he only played in 24 games during the 2024 season which is why he is still considered a rookie since he was on a major league roster for less than 50 days or 150 at bats.
Despite only being in the majors for a limited time, Wagner showed his worth in those few games with a .305 batting average, 2 homeruns, 11 RBIs and a .788 OPS with the Blue Jays in 2024.
Wagner showed out during his limited time in the Blue Jays' lineup, batting .305 with two home runs, six doubles, 11 RBI, a .788 OPS and a 0.7 WAR. The 26-year-old, who saw most of his time at second base, had three hits in his MLB debut and seven hits across his first three appearances. -Connon

Insiders Sam Dykstra, Jim Callis and Johnathan Mayo spoke this week of who they believe will have a chance at winning Rookie of the Year next season and they named Blue Jays rookie Will Wagner.
MLB.com's Sam Dykstra, Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo joined forces this week to predict each team's top Rookie of the Year contender for 2025. Their selection for the Blue Jays was infielder Will Wagner, who retained his rookie eligibility after appearing in 24 big league contests in 2024. -Connon

The issue is that the Blue Jays are looking for new options at second base since they believe that Wagner or Spencer Horwitz might not be able to be an everyday player as their defensive game is not their just yet.
Hopefully Wagner gets a full time spot next year and puts together an incredible season to help his chances at winning Rookie of the Year.
