The MLB's non-tender deadline officially passed last night as 62 players were non-tendered and will be hitting free agency including two Gold Glove winners in Griffin Canning and Brendan Rodgers.
The non-tender deadline saw 62 players hit the free agent market last night
The Blue Jays were not the only team to walk away from some of their current players at the non-tender deadline as a total of 62 players hit the market which is already loaded with talent.
Former All-Stars Jordan Romano and Kyle Finnegan and former Gold Glove winners Griffin Canning and Brendan Rodgers are among 62 players who were non-tendered today and have become free agents.
Teams will not have quite a few options as players such as Griffin Canning and Brendan Rodgers who are now available and will likely land a decent size contract with their resume.
While some of these players such as Jordan Romano and Griffin Canning have had some solid seasons in the past, the reason they were released was due to their struggles last season.
The #Rockies have non-tendered RHP Cal Quantrill and INF Brendan Rodgers, per @Feinsand
The Nats non-tendering Kyle Finnegan last night was odd.
They turned down trade offers for him in July (after he was an All-Star) because he was part of their future plans. Then you send him to FA yesterday?
Was due to make about $9M. That's nothing for a proven, high-leverage, late-inning reliever.
Since there are so many skilled the players have hit the free agent market, the Blue Jays might take an interest into one of them.
