Rodr�guez signed a deal with NPB's Chunichi Dragons on January 26, 2020. In his debut year with Chunichi, Rodr�guez accrued a 3�4 win-loss record and a 4.12 earned run average across 11 appearances.
The following year, 2021, Rodr�guez featured in 12 games for Chunichi's primary team, tallying a 1�4 record alongside a 3.65 ERA while striking out 61 batters across 61. His performance notably improved in 2022, participating in 56 games and achieving a 6�2 record with an outstanding 1.15 ERA. During this period, he recorded 60 strikeouts across 54 and two-thirds innings, earning him recognition as the Central League's Most Valuable Setup Pitcher.
However, on March 28, 2023, Rodr�guez opted to depart from the Dragons unilaterally in pursuit of a contract with a Major League Baseball team. Despite his departure, the Dragons have maintained that his contract remains valid.
