The Toronto Blue Jays number 2 prospect Orelvis Martinez was suspended for 80 games for using PEDs but it looks like the Blue Jays will be giving him another shot.

Martinez' career could have taken a turn for the worse this season after he was suspended for using banned substances which he claimed he was taking to help him conceive with his girlfriend.
This was supposed to be Martinez' season to break into the majors but after playing only two games, he received an 80 game suspension.
This should have been the year for Orelvis Martinez. On a noncontending Blue Jays team with multiple vacancies around the infield, there was never a better opportunity for an up-and-coming prospect to cement a roster spot, not just for this season but well into the future. - Chisolm

Despite the reasoning, this could have been the end of his career in North America if it was not for the Blue Jays giving him a second chance. Martinez will now definitely be on a short leash as one more issue and he will likely get cut but until them he is still with the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays announced that they will be sending him to the Dominican Winter League as they hope he will be able to continue to improve his game and get back into the shape he was in before the suspension. Manager John Schneider said that this will be a crucial off-season for him as he looks to catch up.
«It's big off-season for him,» Jays manager John Schneider said before Tuesday night's game against the Boston Red Sox at the Rogers Centre. «We talked about that with him when he was here, when that unfortunate news broke. It's a big off-season for him to reprove to himself, the industry, everyone that he's a good player.

«It's going to take a lot of work, it's going to take a lot of humility, and he's going to have to catch up on some at-bats and some reps that he missed.»

Hopefully Martinez will use this off-season to get back to where he was and will be ready for Spring Training next march.
