Toronto Blue Jays rookie Spencer Horwitz has had an incredible first season in Toronto becoming one of their most consistent hitters but his time in Toronto might be done.
Despite an incredible first as one of the Blue Jays best hitters, it looks like Horwitz time in Toronto might be coming to an end as they do not see him fitting into their lineup next season.
Horwitz would be a great second baseman for the Blue Jays next season and could be a great option for a new leadoff man as they look to change George Springer's role within the team but that might not happen.
According to reports, the Blue Jays might not be big fans of Horwitz for some undisclosed reason since it seems like all season long, despite of how well he was playing they would make sure to take playing time away from him.
Must read on Blue Jays Insider
"I've said this and I'll continue to say it, I'd like to see Horwitz playing 2B everyday and hitting leadoff next season. That ain't happening. They've basically told you without telling you that they ain't fans of his. So who knows where he's playing next year.
- Kevin Barker
While the smart decision seems to be to keep Horwitz and have him be a big part of the lineup next year, the Blue Jays have proven over the past couple years that making the smart decision is not always their main focus.
Fans would be heartbroken to see him go play somewhere else as he will likely become an incredible major league player but that has not stopped Atkins and Shapiro in the past.
Hopefully he ends up staying in Toronto but with this current front-office, unfortunately anything is possible.
