MLB reporter Don Longley has been taking some heat online for his Toronto Sun articles regarding the Toronto Blue Jays decision to non-tender Jordan Romano.
Don Longley taking some heat online for his comments on the Blue Jays and their decision to non-tender Jordan Romano
Longley wrote an article yesterday for the Toronto Sun on the Blue Jays decision to part ways with pitcher Jordan Romano and threw shade at the team for not betting on Romano's recovery despite thee two parties history together.
Drafted and developed by his hometown team, Jordan Romano gave everything to the #Bluejays. Instead of betting on the closer's return to health, he was released. On Romano's harsh launch into free agency.
Fans have pointed out online how Longley tries to portray this image that the Blue Jays just cut Romano loose out of the blue and strung him along throughout his recovery just to let him go.
It is clear that the Blue Jays tried to make things work with Romano but due to multiple set backs in his recovery and belief that he will not be able to return to the pitcher he once was.
So the Jays worked closely with Romano to try and get him back to health for as long as possible, but it never progressed to the point where he could get off a mound. And THAT is being presented here as «stringing him along»? While Longley also acknowledges this was expected?
Jordan Romano being from Markham doesn't mean he should've been given special treatment lmfao
Clearly fans will miss seeing Romano on the mound but for the most part, they believe that the Blue Jays made the right move in letting him go.
