Blue Jays insider Jeff Blair recently spoke with Kevin Barker on Sportsnet 590 in regards to what Vladimir Guerrero's new contract should look like with Toronto.
While there is still no guarantee that Guerrero will be offered a proper contract, he has made it clear he wants to stay. Blair believes Guerrero should earn anywhere between $26- $27 million per season on his next contract as he is one of the best first baseman in baseball and is currently outplaying his $19 million per year contract.
He's making 19 million this year. $26 million-$27 million per would meet this demand ....
Blair believes Guerrero is one of the top 3 first baseman in baseball and if the Ross Atkins doesn't at least offer him a contract somewhere in that range, Guerrero will be forced to sign elsewhere.
