Today, the Blue Jays announced they've designated veteran pitcher, Mitch White for assignment, most likely marking the end of his tenure with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Sending him down for assignment initiates him being placed on waivers as well, where all other 29 MLB teams having the option to pick up his contract and add him to their roster.
#BlueJays cutting ties with pitcher Mitch White 👀✂️
White arrived via a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers in August 2022, initially intended to serve as a starting pitcher in the rotation. However, over the last 2 seasons, the Blue Jays have exclusively utilized him out of the bullpen. His performance has been less than stellar to add.
The right-hander has a record of 1-6 with an ERA of 7.26 and 50 strikeouts in 24 opportunities for the Blue Jays in his career.
In His four appearances in 2024, White put up an ERA of 5.40 while earning his only win. Yikes...
White's demotion opens a spot-on Toronto's 40-man roster, potentially paving the way for the addition of a prospect.
We wish him the best and hope another team picks him up and the change of scenery is what will get his game back on track.
