Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette's time with the team seems to be coming to an end after he admitted he has yet to talk with them about a contract extension.
The Blue Jays have yet to speak with shortstop Bo Bichette about a contract extension
Everyone has been wondering this winter if the Blue Jays will sign Vladimir Guerrero Jr to an extension but the Bichette front has been rather quiet as he is also in the last year of his contract.
During an interview yesterday, Bichette admitted to MLB insider Keegan Matheson that he has yet to have any conversation with management about a possible extension.
«We haven't had any talks, but from my perspective, we all grow up wanting to be one of those guys that has an opportunity to stay with an organization for their entire career,» Bichette said. «I'm just focused on what I've got to do this year to help the team win and be the best version of myself. Whatever happens will happen.» -Bichette
Bo Bichette will become a free agent at the end of the 2025 season, but the shortstop has yet to discuss a long-term deal with the Blue Jays, Bichette told MLB.com's Keegan Matheson and other reporters. -Polishuk
Many have wondered if the Blue Jays still see Bichette as part of their future after how last season went and wish him confirming that there has been no contract extension talk, it certainly does not look promising.
There's also the simple fact that it isn't clear whether or not Bichette is even still in the Blue Jays' long-term plans, coming off a surprisingly poor 2024 campaign. -Polishuk
While there is still a chance a deal gets done, it seems very slim since the Blue Jays would have probably began some sort of communication by now if it was in their plans.
