Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider on Kevin Gausman's weight

Toronto Blue Jays manager spoke to the media yesterday regarding starting pitcher Kevin Gausman's weight and health heading into the 2025 season.
Gausman is coming off a tough 2024 season where he dealt with some injuries issues at the start of the year as he came back too soon and it looks like he is making sure history does not repeat itself.

Many fans noticed that Gausman showed up to Spring Training weighing more than his usual which Schneider confirmed as he said he is in the best shape of his life and is much sturdier.

Schneider also added that Gausman's goal this season is to play the full year at above 200 pounds as he believes it will help his game and his pitching which is why he put on some weight this off-season.
Kevin Gausman is "sturdier", as John Schneider said, and that's on purpose.

Despite Gausman having a tough 2024 season, he still managed to finish with a solid 3.83 ERA with 162 strikeouts in 181 innings pitched.
Hopefully he will build off his 2024 ending and will be back to one of the best pitcher in the American League this season.
