Kevin Gausman has been an absolute stud for the Toronto Blue Jays over the past two seasons. Unfortunately, in Spring Training, his status for the start of the year was brought into question due to a shoulder injury.
Overall, Gausman has done big things with the Blue Jays in his two seasons with the franchise. For instance, in 2023, he was able to finish the year with a record of 12-9. He also had an ERA of 3.16 and managed to throw 237 strikeouts. In fact, Gausman was so good last season that he finished third in Cy Young voting for the American League. His efforts had fans anticipating a huge 2024, although his shoulder injury was putting a damper on things.
Now, Gausman is getting an extremely positive update. As per Manager John Schneider, Gausman will be the starting pitcher on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays. This will be the fourth and final game in the season-opening series between these two teams. Needless to say, Gausman has an opportunity to create some steady momentum for the Jays.
In the first game between the Blue Jays and the Rays, Toronto came away with an 8-2 win. On Friday in Game 2, it was the Rays who finished with a win by the exact same score. At the time of writing this, the Blue Jays and Rays are in the opening innings of their third matchup.
If you want to watch Gausman pitch in tomorrow's game, you will be able to do so as of 1:40 PM Eastern Standard Time. For fans in Canada, you can catch the game over on Sportsnet. Additionally, you can stay tuned to Blue Jays Insider for more news and updates from around the baseball world.
