While Danny Jansen is making waves in Buffalo during his rehab assignment after fracturing his wrist, the Blue Jays catcher is eager for additional reps behind the plate to polish up his defensive skills.

"I definitely want some reps behind the plate," - Jansen
Jansen's bat is hot right now, and the Jays are struggling in that department, but why isn't he ready to go back to the big club? Well, defensively, the catching position is baseball's most grueling task. A catcher has a lot to handle mentally and physically when calling a game, and no number of drills can prepare you for it.
Jansen stated in an interview that "I definitely want some reps behind the plate," he said after catching six innings of the Bisons' rain-shortened 6-3 loss to Rochester on Thursday afternoon.
"It's been a month (since I've caught in a game), and it was kind of what I expected getting back there. It sped up on me a little bit, but I'm fine with that. I'll just take today and move on and continue learning and getting better."

He also explained that after a month without catching in a game, it was pretty much what he anticipated when he got back there. The pace was a bit faster than he remembered. he said, "I'll take today's experience, learn from it, and focus on improving moving forward."
Jansens bat could be crucial for the Jays, as Alejandro Kirk has played well defensively and handling the pitching staff, he has started the season 6-for-41 without any extra-base hits.
The 28-year old is scheduled to catch two more game before a decision will be made to return to the Jays. But as history shows, defensively he should be back in top shape in no time.
