The Blue Jays are approaching the end of the season which means a crucial off-season is about to begin especially involving two of their stars Vladimir Guerrero and Bo Bichette who are both entering the last year of their contracts.
Insider Shi David said in an interview yesterday that this could be the end of Mark Shapiro with the Blue Jays depending on how he handles the this off-season with Bichette and Guerrero.
"You know we've said this a few times and talking to different people about it, I don't think we're being dramatic when we say this is one of the biggest turning points in franchise history coming up [this winter] with Shapiro's future along with Bo/Vladdy"

Both players have made it clear they want to continue to play together in Toronto but that doesn't necessarily mean they will stay since Shapiro and Atkins need to make the right offer to keep them.
Shapiro won't necessarily be fired if the off-season goes poorly but he is entering the last year of his contract and will likely not be renewed if next season ends up resembling this one.
