The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to add some keys piece this off-season and according to reports they will be making Tampa Bay Rays free agent Brandon Lowe a contract offer.

The Blue Jays have a ton of players on their current payroll that could play second base but none that are true starters which is why they will be looking to possibly add a second baseman during free agency.

Insider reveals the Blue Jays will be making free agent Brandon Lowe a contract offer this winter

As the Blue Jays look to find a permanent second baseman for next season while also looking to add some hitting power to their lineup, Lowe could be a perfect fit as he is a solid defender and a consistent hitter.
According to insider Jim Bowden the Blue Jays are looking to make the Rays second baseman a two year $24 million offer this off-season.
There will be options out there in free agency to bolster the second base or third base spots, with second being a big one to watch for. Because of this, The Athletics' Jim Bowden had the Blue Jays on his list of "best team fits" to sign Tampa Bay Rays All-Star Brandon Lowe with a contract predicted to be two years, $24 million. -McAvoy

While Lowe could be a great fit for the Blue Jays, he is also a risky signing since he has struggled to stay healthy with many trips to IL over the years which is why the Blue Jays would not offer him a longer term that two years.
"Brandon Lowe is another player who just can't stay off the injured list; he's played more than 110 games just once in his seven-year career and has averaged 108 games over the last two years," Bowden said. "However, his power has been consistent during that span as he hit 21 homers in both years. He's only 30, and if he can stay healthy, his power plays, as it did in 2021 when he hit 39 home runs. He finished in the top 10 in AL MVP voting in 2020 and 2021, so there's no denying his potential. -McAvoy

Lowe's contract does have a team option for 2025 but most insiders believe the Rays will not sign it and end up letting him walk this off-season.
