The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees begin the World Series tonight and have announced their rosters for the series in which former Toronto Blue Jay Kevin Kiermaier has unfortunately been left off of.
Kiermaier was traded to the Dodgers by the Blue Jays at the trade deadline as they hoped to give him once last shot at winning a World Series before he retired at the end of the season and he is getting that chance despite not being on the roster.
Kevin Kiermaier unfortunately left off of the Dodgers World Series roster
The former Blue Jays outfielder has left off the Dodgers roster for their series against the Padres in the National League Division Series but found himself a roster spot during the National League Championship Series against the New York Mets. Many thought he might have a chance at a roster spot in the World Series due to being on the roster against the Mets but it looks like that won't be happening unless an injury take splace.
Kiermaier made four appearances for the Dodgers in the NLCS, mostly as a defensive replacement in the outfield. The four-time Gold Glove winner announced earlier in the season that he would be retiring this winter meaning that, barring injury, he has played his last MLB game. -Sportsnet
Kevin Kiermaier has been left off of the Dodgers World Series roster.
Unless he gets added as an injury replacement at some point during the series, his career is over.
While Kiermaier will likely never get to play again, he still has a chance of retiring with a World Series ring if the Dodgers can beat the Yankees in this best of 7 series.
It is hard to point out who has the advantage heading into this series as both teams are loaded with superstar talent and seem pretty even in all aspects, from pitching to hitting.
