Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho is still recovering from his surgery that he got on his shoulder at the end of last season which reporter Hazel Mae gave an update on.
Hazel Mae gives injury update on Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho
Varsho seems to be recovering quicker than most thought he would as he was expected to miss a good portion of the start of the season but it looks like he might back before that.
Reporter Hazel Mae confirmed that Varsho showed up to Dunedin a week early and has been taking live batting practice and has been throwing from 90 feet away as it is now his third/fourth week throwing.
Daulton Varsho (shoulder) update:
He's been hitting in the cage/taking BP with no issues, but it is throwing that's been his big focus at camp.
Varsho arrived at the PDC on January 7th, and started throwing a football. He's now into his 3rd/4th week throwing a baseball:
Varsho seems pretty excited with how well his recovery has been going as he did not expect to be throwing a ball this well so soon after surgery but it looks like things are going great so far.
While Varsho's recovery is going great, there is still no definite answer as to when he will be back as there is still a very good chance he is not ready for the start of the season.
If Varsho is not ready for Opening Day, the Blue Jays will need to look towards one of their younger players to sub in until Varsho is able to return.
Despite Varsho still not being fully ready, it is great news for the Blue Jays to see where he is at in his recovery as of right now.
