Toronto Blue Jays former catcher Luke Maile has agreed to terms with the Kansas City Royals for the 2025 season.

Spring Training has begun for most teams but that does not mean players will not still get signed as even the Blue Jays are still looking to add players as they signed Amir Garrett to a minor league deal last night.

Maile spent three years in Toronto between 2017 and 2019 with his best season coming in 2018 where he finished with 3 homeruns, 27 RBIs and a .248 batting average in 68 games.
Despite spending the entire 2024 seaosn in the majors with the Cincinnati Reds, Maile struggled at the plate finishing with 2 homeruns, 8 RBIs and a .178 batting average in 55 games which is why he was only able to land a minor league deal.
The Royals do not have a ton of depth at catcher which is why Maile might end up getting some playing time in the majors if they end up having some injuries throughout the season.
This is a solid signing by the Royals as it gives them such much needed help with their current catcher situation.
