Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer had an all around terrible year this season ass he bounced around the batting lineup all year.
Springer recently sat down with Sportsnet's Hazel Mae to speak of what went wrong this season after putting up the worse numbers of his career at the plate despite playing slightly better in the second half of the year.
The 34 year old stated that he fell short in every way possible of his own expectations and everyone else's and wish he was bale to do more but just fell short on all fronts.
Asked George Springer what he could've done better in a disappointing season: "I can say everything. I think I fell short of every expectation I set on myself individually. I think obviously the expectations of the fans, the organizations, I didn't meet that."
The Blue Jays veteran went on to say how he will not hide from the fact that it was a disappointing season for him but that he is happy that he was able to at least get going a little bit in the second half of the season.
"I'm not going to back away from that. I accept that. A lot of it is on me. I think as the year went on, I got going. I was more of the player that everybody expected me to be, and and wanted me to be, and I understand that."
fans did back Springer by saying that although he had a rough year, he did continue to try and improve every day which manager John Schneider also expressed in multiple interviews.
George didn't slouch off thoughhe really tried. I'll give him that.
The big questions now is how will Springer do next season and will the Blue Jays still keep him as their lead off hitter?
