Rodney will not be the other player that in this league that has played pro baseball as the Cardinals owner Eric Spearin stated that the league has many players that have played in the minor leagues but non with Rodney's experience.
"Our league is typically made-up of baseball players that may have made the major leagues, like the Blue Jays so the fact that we signed Fernando Rodney is significant," Spearin told CBC Hamilton via telephone from the Dominican Republic - Rodney's home country. -Brown
Apparently it is thanks to one of the Cardinals assistant coaches, Luis Bernardo, who helped land Rodney for Hamilton as the two have know each other for years since Bernardo is from the Dominican Republic like Rodney.
Spearin said team member and assistant coach Luis Bernardo, who is originally from the Dominican Republic, has known Rodney for a number of years, and was "very instrumental" in helping to get him to sign with the Cardinals. -Brown
It will interesting to see how Rodney does since he is now 47 years old but in his prime he was an incredible pitcher which means he should still be able to throw some heat.
