The Toronto Blue Jays took on the Boston Red Sox last night at the Rogers Centre hosting beloved former catcher Danny Jansen.
Jansen was traded at the trade deadline to the Red Sox due to his experiment contract which broke the fans as he was one of the most loved players on the team and people felt he should have been re-signed instead of traded.
The Blue Jays former catcher received quite the reception for his first time back in Toronto in a Red Sox jersey as Toronto put together a great video for him while the fans were quick to get to their feet for a standing ovation.
Jansen also took sometime during warmups to go and speak with his former teammates and jokes around.
«That's the guy who took your number!»
Davis introduced JoJo to Jano
Clearly Jansen was a massive part of the Blue Jays and the community in Toronto as at the time he was traded he was the longest tenured player on the team.
From the team. From the community. From the country.
Welcome back, Jano!
Fans are still hopeful that the Blue Jays will look into bringing Jansen back this winter during free agency as they are still without a catcher and Jansen would clearly be a great fit for them.
The #BlueJays just played a long "welcome back" video for Danny Jansen between the top and bottom of the first.
He's out on the field to wave to the crowd during a nice ovation. A player as beloved in the clubhouse as he was by the fans here.
