4-time All-Star and fan favorite Charlie Blackmon has announced his retirement.

It has been announced today that 4-time All-Star and career Colorado Rockie outfielder, Charlie Blackmon will be calling it a career and will retire at the end of the 2024 MLB season.
He officially announced the retirement on x (formally Twitter) with a beautiful send off on what it meant to dream as a kid to play in the majors and to finally be able to live out that dream. He told what the game of baseball meant to him and how the city of Colorado is now his home and will always be a major part of his story.
«As a kid you play the game because you love it, like nothing else matters,» Blackmon wrote. «I still play the game that way, but I don't feel like a kid anymore. My perspective has changed. I have been blessed to call the city of Denver and The Colorado Rockies my baseball home for the entirety of my career. I am grateful for the support of this organization, my teammates, and most of all Rockies fans. It is with a thankful heart and a career's worth of memories that I choose a new path.» Blackmon went on to thank his family as part of a longer statement.

Blackmon spent his entire 14 season in Colorado with the Rockies, and for he better part of those 9 years was a major contributor and 4-time All-Star who even finished 5th in NL MVP voting one season. Although a decline in production was normal for his age in the past few seasons, his reputation and loyalty to the team earned him one more big contract where he signed for $13 million this past offseason.
Weather you know him for his wonderful play on the field, his amazing dedication to fans or even his majestic beard, Charlie Blackmon will always be a fan favorite for home and opposing teams.
