Blue Jays prospect Joey Votto took to Instagram yesterday to announce his retirement from baseball.
After the Blue Jays game against the Reds, manager John Schneider spoke of Votto's retirement stating that he was an incredible baseball player and added that he is also an incredible person off the field.
John Schneider on Joey Votto after tonight's game.
«An unbelievable career. Getting to know him briefly in spring was a treat for everyone. I don't have all of the details and haven't spoken to him yet, but what a unique player and wonderful person." #BlueJays
Unfortunately Schneider never got the chance to coach Votto in the big league's but did get to know him a little at Spring Training the winter.
