New York Yankees Closer and All-Star has cemented himself as one of the games best closing pitchers in all of baseball, but that might not be enough for him to stay in the pinstripe uniform.
«It's been special,» Holmes said of his time in New York. «Obviously, everybody's journey is a little different in that sense, but to be able to come over here and really start to put some things together, it's been rewarding just being able to go out and really feel like I can contribute to help the team win.»
In 201 innings with the Yanks, he has earned an impressive 2.55 ERA due to his masterful sinking fastball .He has stated that he wants to be with the New York Yankees for years to come but knows the conversation about a next contract will not come anytime soon.
«We go and win the World Series, have the same team, go and do the same thing again next year,» Holmes said recently. «As players, it's what we're focused on.»- Holmes
The Yankees number one priority right now is finishing fishing off the season strong but mainly, the team needs to try and retain star-outfielder, Juan Soto who is also a free-agent this offseason.
«I think stuff will work out when it needs to,» Holmes said, and the Yankees don't have a need to work something out until around November.
Do you think Clay Holmes will be a Yankee next season?
