In a San Diego Padres 6-5 win in game 3 of the NLDS, in the second inning Padres Manny Machado ran for second base clearly off of the base line which interfered with the throw to second yet there was no call made. This started a 6 run rally by the Padres which led to their 6-5 win.
Jones took to social media after the game to criticize Machado's base running while also pointing out that the 1st base umpire had a perfect line of sight on the play and should have made the right call instead of giving this massive advantage to the Padres.
Not that I'm torn up about it, but isn't this illegal??? This was the beginning of a 6 run rally that literally decided a playoff game. I can understand the 2nd base ump not making a call bcuz of angle, but that fella in all black standing next to 1st base, had a perfect view!
Clearly Jones does not believe that this was a legal play and that the umpires need to do a better job of making the right call as they can cost a team the game in a crucial playoff moment as they did for the Dodger in game 3.
Tomorrow night is game 5 as winner takes all which fans are hoping the umpires do not cost one team or another the game at such a big moment in the playoffs.
