Sources: Major League Baseball is considering making the 2025 MLB Draft a two-day event. Rounds 1-3 would take place on day one. Rounds 4-20 would take place on day two. Plan is expected to be finalized soon. Still some final details to iron out.
Doyle then confirmed only a few moments later that all teams have been informed that this will be the case moving for starting with the 2025 MLB which will take place over 2 days instead of 3.
Update: Language has been sent to teams. This is OFFICIAL. The MLB Draft is now a 2-day event.
The Blue Jays have the 8th pick coming up at the draft which is still great despite fans being disappointed that they did not get a pick within the top 5 as they were expected to with their 7.5% chance at the first pick.
Hopefully the Blue Jays will be able to land a solid player at the draft as they have not had a pick this high since 2020 when they took shortstop Austin Martin 5th overall.
Martin was traded to the Minnesota Twins back at the 2021 trade deadline as part of the deal that brought pitcher Jose Berrios to Toronto and just finished his first season in the majors this year.
