Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Ryan Chasse announced that he has sign a new contract with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League.

Despite their being over 200 minor league teams with affiliations to the MLB, baseball is a cutthroat sport where one bad season can leave a player without a contract for the following season.

The Washington Wild Things announced this morning that they have signed a contract with former Blue Jays left handed pitched Ryan Chasse to a one year deal.
The Washington Wild Things have signed left-handed pitcher Ryan Chasse, a standout at Campbell University that spent three seasons in the Blue Jays organization from 2022-24. -Frontier League

Chasse was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 17th round of the 2022 MLB draft out of Campbell University and spent three season in the Blue Jays minor league system before being released on June 15th.
Chasse appeared in four games in 2024 and logged four innings of work with the FCL Blue Jays, a rookie-ball affiliate of Toronto. In 2023, around some injuries, he appeared in 15 games (one start) and amassed 24.2 innings with a 1-1 record, a 3.28 ERA and two saves. He allowed 12 hits in that span of work and struck out 17. In 2022 after being drafted in the 17th Round of the MLB June Amateur Draft, Chasse pitched in seven games, earned a save, was 3-1 and worked nine innings with six hits allowed and six strikeouts. -Frontier League

While Chasse's major league dreams are not over just yet, he does have a seriously big hill to climb if he plans on getting back but the upside is that the Frontier League has many MLB scouts at their games and if plays well he could earn himself another minor league deal.
Hopefully Chasse will be able to standout in the Frontier League and make his way back but it will not be easy.
The Blue Jays had no choice but to release Chasse last season after posting a 9.00 ERA in 4 innings pitched in the Florida Complex League.
