MLB TV announced an update yesterday regarding their viewership throughout the postseason as the numbers of viewers has gone up 18% from last year.
It seems as though the MLB has done a great job over the past 2 years of bringing fans interest back into the world of baseball and it seems to be quite apparent when looking at the viewership numbers.
MLB TV pulled in an average of 4.091 million during the Division Series which is the largest average in 10 years on FS1. Game 5 of the American League Division Series between the Cleveland Guardians in Detroit Tigers was also the most watched division series game in 17 years. Viewership average this post season overall sits at 3.332 million which is up 18% from last postseason which shows just how much interest has gone up.
MLB TV ratings are soaring this postseason: The NLCS drew an average of 4.091 million viewers in the Division Series, the largest on FS1 since 2014. The ALCS Game 5 between the Guardians and Tigers was the most-watched Division Series day game in 17 years. The average postseason viewership is 3.332, up 18% over a year ago.
The viewership is Japan was also incredibly high with 9.5 million people watching game 1 of the National League Division Series between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers. US viewership during the division series was up 41% from last season yet almost 3 times as many fans watched from Japan compared to the US.
9.5 million people watched game 1 of the NLDS in Japan... *correction from earlier
US viewership increased 41% from last year, the series was the most watched comparable LDS in FS1 history...
Yet nearly 3 times as many people watched in Japan than in the U.S.
Clearly the game of baseball is growing in the United States but also on a global level as some of the best players in the world including the best are from outside the United States.
