Toronto Blue Jays Vladimir Guerrero still has one year of arbitration left before he becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2025 season.
Fans are hoping that Guerrero and the Blue Jays reached an agreement on a contract extension before free agency begins at the end of the post season as it will give the Blue Jays a better idea of how much they can spend in free agency.
Guerrero is heading into his final year of eligible arbitrations and according to reports the Blue Jays superstar first baseman is set to make about $29.6 million next year prior to his new deal kicking in.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (5.157): $29.6MM Erik Swanson (5.059): $3.2MM Jordan Romano (5.051): $7.75MM Genesis Cabrera (5.011): $2.5MM Dillon Tate (4.144): $1.9MM Daulton Varsho (4.128): $7.7MM Alejandro Kirk (4.047): $4.1MM Alek Manoah (3.063): $2.4MM Zach Pop (2.171): $1MM Ernie Clement (2.168): $1.7MM
Fans and reporters believe that there is a high likelihood that Guerrero's new contract will be around 10 years with an AAV of around $35 million per year which seem to be the current comparable for his level of production.
devers got 10/313.5. that seems like around where it could end up landing
Sign him 35 per for 10 get him locked up
Give him 29.6 for the next 14 years
While this is a lot of money, Guerrero is one of the best hitters and first baseman in the MLB so if the Blue Jays let him walk because they are not willing to pay him that kind of money, he will surely get it elsewhere without a problem.
