Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays cruised to an 8-2 win against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. This Opening Day win was highlighted by home runs from Guerrero Jr., George Springer, and Cavan Biggio.

Coming into 2024, there were plenty of questions surrounding the offensive prowess of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. After a 48-home run campaign in 2021, he was only able to hit 32 home runs in 2022, and a measley 26 in 2023. However, Guerrero Jr. is 25 years old which means he is still very young, and still extremely capable of turning things around. On Thursday, he offered up a strong start to the season as he came through with an incredible home run that went right down the middle of the field.
"The 2024 Blue Jays began the process of carving out a new identity as what manager John Schneider described as "a pretty complete team" Thursday evening, pounding the Tampa Bay Rays in an 8-2 victory on Opening Day."
Following the game, Vlad Jr. spoke to reporters through his interpreter. It was here where he revealed what the key to the team's win was. Clearly, manager John Schneider is instilling a ton of confidence in this team, and Vlad is one of the players feeling it the most.
"The key was that each of us executed the plan that we had prior to the game. And I believe that if we can continue doing that, we're going to be just fine."

Game 2 of the series against the Tampa Bay Rays is set to go down today at 6:50 PM Eastern Standard Time. Friday nights are the best, and if you have some free time, this game should prove to be a fun watch. If you are in Canada, you will be able to catch the game over at Sportsnet.
