After the Toronto Blue Jays game against the Tampa Bay Rays this afternoon, reporter Hazel Mae asked Vladimir Guerrero Jr how he felt regarding Mark Shapiro's comments that they will re-sign him.

Guerrero has been everywhere in the media of the course of Spring Training as he has been constantly talking about his contract negotiations even stating yesterday that he think he might be able to land a $700 million contract in free agency.

"My over arching feeling is that we're going to sign him, we're going to extend him.. that's how I feel."

@Shidavidi
and I spoke to Vladdy Guerrero Jr. postgame to get his reax to Shapiro's comments the club feels "optimistic" they'll extend him: (1/2)
"I've always felt good about the whole thing. I'm good with that. Just going to keep working very hard and be optimistic, too.."
"Not going to shut the door on them... I'll be open. But I'm going to leave that to my agents to work with that. If there's something there, they're going to continue to work with that. I'm just going to be on the field, focusing on my teammates, on my team, on my game" (2/2)
While Guerrero did not say anything necessarily bad, it definitely sounds like he was just trying to say the right thing and not flat out say that he will be entering free agency.
