Mark Shapiro shocks fans during interview with comments regarding Vladimir Guerrero Jr negotiations

Toronto Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro spoke with the media this morning regarding the on going negotiations with Vladimir Guerrero Jr making some shocking comments.
Guerrero has been the main topic on discussion in camp so far and despite not wanting to be a distraction for the team he has been discussion his upcoming contract every chance he gets.

Most believe that Guerrero will be at least holding out until free agency and believe that even if he listens to the Blue Jays offer, the chances of him signing there are very slim.
During an interview this morning, Shapiro had quite the curveball for the fanbase stating that he is confident an extension will get done since there is such a clear alignment on what Guerrero wants.

During an hour-long conversation with media in Dunedin, Mark Shapiro expressed optimism that the Blue Jays at some point will extend Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
While Shapiro is correct that they know exactly what Guerrero is looking for his future contract, they have known this whole time what he wants and they have yet to offer it to him which is why it is hard to believe that knowing his asking price means a deal will get done.
Hopefully this is the turning point since Shapiro or Ross Atkins before this interview never flat out stated that a deal will get done which is definitely a positive.
