Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins finally speaks on Bo Bichette extension

Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins spoke to the media yesterday after officially signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr and was asked about Bo Bichette's contract extension.
Bichette told the media recently that he had yet to hear from the organization regarding an extension which caused a lot of speculation as to what the team plan on doing with him prior to the trade deadline.

Mark Shapiro, Ross Atkins and Vladimir Guerrero Jr all spoke to the media after making the dead official yesterday in which Guerrero had some incredible things to say about the Blue Jays fan base.
Atkins on the other hand was asked about Bichette's current contract which is set to expire to which he stated that the team's vision is to keep both Guerrero and Bichette playing together.
"It's also our vision for them to continue to play together."

While this would be the ideal situation for the Blue Jays and fans would love to see both Bichette and Guerrero stay in Toronto for their entire career it is hard to believe that this could get done.
Right now Bichette is on fire which means he will likely be asking for quite a bit of money from an extension which many believe the Blue Jays might not be able to afford after signing Guerrero to a $500 million extension.
The other problem is that Atkins is stating that the plan is to keep Bichette but it is strange that they have yet to start any discussions with the player or his agent on an extension if that truly is their plan.
Time will tell if the Blue Jays are serious about keeping Bichette or if they are simply saying this to keep the fanbase off their back for the moment.
