The Braves are interested in acquiring Blue Jays Bo Bichette
Bichette recently told the media after the Guerrero deal that he had yet to speak to the team about a contract extension which is what began all the rumors concerning the Blue Jay trading him prior to the deadline.
The Braves were very interested in Bichette this off-season when there was rumors off the Blue Jays looking for trade him as Atlanta is looking for upgrade at the shortstop position.
According to reports, with Guerrero's new deal the Braves will be calling to see if they can work out a deal for Bichette.
"Guerrero's deal could handcuff Toronto's ability to spend and keep shortstop Bo Bichette who becomes a free agent after this season. There's a clear fit for Bichette in Atlanta as the Braves are currently running Nick Allen out on a daily basis at the position," Teal wrote.
The Blue Jays would apparently turn towards
Andres Gimenez to replace Bichette at shortstop if they end up trading him while having one of their young infielders such as
Davis Schneider or
Will Wagner play second base.
"Bichette is in the final year of his three-year, $33 million extension with the Blue Jays. Toronto traded for Andres Gimenez this offseason and he could immediately fill that void should Bichette leave as is widely expected. They also have a few budding prospects who could take over in the next couple of years." -Teal
Even if Bichette is only traded at the deadline, the Blue Jays should be able to get a solid return for him since he has been on fire at the plate to start the season for the Blue Jays.
Should be interesting to see if the Blue Jays end up trading him, what the return will look like.
