Toronto Blue Jays Trey Yesavage makes pro debut
The No. 2 prospect in the Blue Jays' system and No. 85 prospect across the majors, per MLB Pipeline made his pro debut on Tuesday.
Trey Yesavage, the Toronto Blue Jays' top draft pick in 2024, made his professional baseball debut with the Dunedin Blue Jays on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old right-hander regained composure, striking out two hitters in a flawless second inning and retiring one batter each in the third and fourth. He was replaced after walking his final two batters, having thrown 32 of his 68 pitches for strikes.
Yesavage pitched 3.2 innings, giving up two unearned runs on one hit and six walks. He struck out four batters, and his fastball peaked at 95 mph during the appearance.
As highlighted by TSN's Scott Mitchell in his 2025 Top 50 Blue Jays prospects list, Yesavage has the potential to join the Blue Jays' rotation soon, thanks to his refined skills developed over three years of NCAA experience at East Carolina.
Yesavage pitched to a 2.03 earned-run average in his final season at East Carolina, and was selected 20th overall by the Blue Jays in the 2024 MLB June Amateur Draft. -TSN
According to MLB's Keegan Matheson, Yesavage is likely to make a few more starts in Dunedin before being promoted to the High-A Vancouver Canadians.
