The Athletic disrespects Blue Jays pitcher Jose Berrios is recent article
The Athletics posted an article yesterday going listing off the worst contracts in the MLB as of right now while most of the names were expected, the list did come with some shocks.
There was not any Blue Jays players that made the list except for pitcher Jose Berrios who was listed in the honorouble mentions section for his 7 year $131 million contract signed in 2021.
In The Athletic's latest list of "worst MLB contracts", no #BlueJays made the cut, but the one to make it as an honorable mention was ... Jose Berrios? I can think of a right fielder who I'd put on the list before Berrios.
Make it make sense.
MLB reporter Eric Trueden could not believe that the Blue Jays The Athletic decided to name Berrios' contract but somehow outfielder George Springer was left off the list as he clearly has the worst contract on the team.
Berrios finished with a very solid 3.60 ERA and despite a tougher second half of the season, he was considered one of the best pitchers in the American League in the first two months of the season as he came out of the gate extremely strong.
Springer on the other hand was one of the worst leadoff hitters in the MLB last season to the point where the Blue Jays even dropped him down to 8th in the lineup at one point all while still being the highest paid player on the team.
Having Berrios on this list makes absolutely zero sense since he is a solid and consistent pitcher and deserves to be paid the money he is making.
