The Toronto Blue Jays finished last place in the division last season and are looking to seriously shakes things up this winter which is why many believes they are front runners to land free agent Willy Adames.
The Blue Jays were rumored to be going after Adames when many thought that the team was looking to trade Bo Bichette this off-season but rumors have settled down since Ross Atkins stated he does not plan on trading Bichette.
The Blue Jays are still very interested in signing free agent Willy Adames
The Blue Jays have stated that they plan on keeping Bichette but MLB insider believes that the Blue Jays could still end up signing Adames and moving him positions or end up putting Bichette on the trading block after all.
"And if they're not convinced that they can/should re-up with Bichette, they could swing big for Adames and then put Bichette on the trade block to really shake things up. If they're drawing up a $150-plus million deal for a shortstop, though, one would imagine it'll be to lock up Bichette through at least 2030."
Adames is an incredible defensive player and could likely easily play second or third base but would have to agree to it before signing him to a deal since if not they will end up with two shortstops.
Adames only would make sense for Toronto if Bichette is traded or if Adames moves to second base or third base. If that were to be the case, an infield featuring him, Bichette, and Guerrero would be very impressive. -McAvoy
Even though they plan on keeping Bichette, signing Adames for his offense and moving him to second base could definitely be a great move by the Blue Jays this off-season.
