Blue Jays fans received some good news from manager John Schneider as he gave an update regarding veteran pitcher Max Scherzer's injury and the progress he's undertaking.

Schneider reported that the news is encouraging as he has remained on the injury list since his departure from the line up during the opening series against the Baltimore Orioles.

Scherzer could return sooner than later to the lineup

"... he was more encouraged with how it felt yesterday than he was when he was in Baltimore," manager John Schneider said ahead of Wednesday's action, per Gregory Strong of The Canadian Press. John Schneider
His thumb injury has been viewed as inflammation and required a cortisone shot near the end of the month of March as he continues to seek and consult with different doctors on how to allow his thumb to heal and get back to the mound.
"It's like a day-to-day thing. And I think getting clarity from a doctor he's familiar with will hopefully keep that going in the same direction," the skipper added. John Schneider

Blue Jays continue to use Easton Lucas as Scherzer's fill in

The 40-year-old veteran pitcher had signed a one-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays worth $15.5 million and was expected to be in the rotation as a key contributor and to add to the already veteran rotation.
In the meantime, the Blue Jays have used Easton Lucas as Scherzer's replacement and has been giving the team some unexpected results. His first two starts were excellent which helped the Blue Jays secure a couple of wins.
"Are you on the six-pack or Rick Bushwood on this?" - Ross Atkins Atkins brings an OverDrive style discussing Max Scherzer's injury timeline with the Blue Jays.

In his most recent game, however, he struggled against Atlanta batters and ended up losing his game which puts him at 2-1 for the season.
The Blue Jays have taken two games of three in their Atlanta Braves series and will now have the day off on Thursday and await the arrival of the Seattle Mariners where they will open a three-game series before going back out onto the road.
