The Toronto Blue Jays had a lot of big decisions to make regarding prior to last night's non-tender deadline and agreed to terms with Erik Swanson to avoid arbitration.
The Blue Jays have agree to terms with Erik Swanson
News was announced last night that the Blue Jays agreed to a one year deal with relief pitcher Erik Swanson worth $3 million which will allow them to avoid arbitration this off-season.
The #BlueJays announced they've agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with Erik Swanson (which avoids arbitration).
Jordan Romano and Dillon Tate were non-tendered.
All other players were tendered contracts, including Zach Pop.
Swanson had a 2024 season filled with up and downs but after being optioned to Triple-A halfway through the season, he was called back up to the majors and finished strong as he brought his ERA back down to 5.03.
The pitcher then struggled out of the gates for the Blue Jays and was optioned to triple-A in May.
However, Swanson responded well when he was called back up to the big leagues in July and finished the season with a 5.03 ERA across 39.1 innings pitched. -Sportsnet
Many were hoping that the Blue Jays would end up tendering a contract to Jordan Romano as well but it looks like after spending his entire career with his home team, he will be headed to free agency.
