Blue Jays announce that they have signed Luis Fonesca
News broke yesterday that the Blue Jays that the Blue Jays officially signed
Fonesca to a deal which includes a $10,000 signing bonus after spending multiple months trying out in the Dominican Republic.
Cuban left-hander Luis Fonseca (22) has officially signed with the Toronto Blue Jays after spending several months trying out in the Dominican Republic.
Bonus deal: $10,000.
Fonseca is the 23rd Cuban-born player to sign during the current international signing period.
The experienced Elian Leyva was recruited again by the Charros de Jalisco for the next edition of the Mexican League #Béisbol ( #LMB ), while the Toronto Blue Jays bet on the potential of the young Luis Fonseca.
The Blue Jays are clearly trying to capitalize on the additional international bonus pool money they acquired when trading for Myles Straw since they were unable to use it on Roki Sasaki.
Hopefully all these young signings will end up helping the Blue Jays in the future are they are currently stacking up on solid young pitchers hoping that at least a couple of them turn into major leaguers.
It will interesting to see how all the players end up developing and if any end up in the MLB one day.
