The Reds have had a tough season this year as they currently sit 4th in the NL Central with a 76-81 record.
The front office decided to make some changes just before the season comes to an end firing their longtime manager Bell.
Breaking news: The Reds have fired David Bell as their manager. Bench coach Freddie Benavides will be interim manager for Cincinnati's final five games. Story to come soon on MLB . com and Reds . com
The Reds have fired manager David Bell, the team announced.
This comes as quite a surprise since fans find it a little ruthless to fire Bell 5 games before the end of the season instead of letting him finish the year then parting ways in the off-season.
Bell has been with the team since 2019 and in those 5 years under Bell, they have yet to do anything substantial, mostly missing the playoffs with decent rosters.
Do to his lack of success, it is understandable that the Reds want to move on from Bell but with only a 5 games left, fans wonder why they did not let him finish the season.
David Bell spent six years with the organization and put up with the bullshit of the organization. Then in a cowardly act, they fire him on a Sunday night, with a week left in the season.....and nobody from ownership can bother to even thank him for the press release?Simply can't make it up.
