Toronto Blue Jays president and CEO Mark Shapiro told the media last week that Ross Atkins will be back as the general manager moving forward, but will he be able to evolve and actually make the team better?

«Ross needs to get better.»
Year after year, Blue Jays fan are fed the same empty promises and words about how the team and management needs to be better, but nothing ever changes. Fans have been livid at the decisions made by general manager Ross Atkins, and with how badly the team performed, it was believed that he would be relieved of his duties. Instead, to everyone's surprise, Mark Shapiro put the power back in his hands, and it is starting to feel like groundhog day.
«Ross needs to be better. I need to be better. Our entire baseball operations need to be better,» he told reporters before trumpeting the fact that the current regime has led the Blue Jays to the postseason during three of the past five seasons.

«We left spring training objectively with a chance to to be a contending team and playoff team. And to me, that's not grounds to make a change. If I felt there was a better alternative to run our baseball operation, I'd make that change.»

This quote in particular had Jays fans upset, Mark Shapiro said there wasn't "grounds" for a change, but if how the season went and the call he made aren't "grounds" for firing, then i do not know what is. He needs to go, and by keeping him, It is only hurting the team even more.
